It is a picture of peace and serenity and in the hustle bustle of Delhi it is difficult to imagine the existence of such an abode of purity and religiosity.

The main building, has a round hall called the Naam Brahma Mandir which is used for Naam Sankirtan and religious discourses. There are 5 temples in the complex and a house which was used by Mata Anandamayee whenever she visited Delhi. Gardens are laid around the temples. There is accommodation for the inmates and staff and a guest house is located on the site for the use of visitors.

This Ashram came up around 1952/53. Thereafter depending on the availability of funds expansions took place and slowly the ashram as it exists today came up.

The history of the Delhi Ashram starts around 1940 when an ashram was created by devotees in a rented house located in the Banarasi Das Estate on the Panchquin Road, New Delhi. On the completion of the initial lease the Ashram took on rent a house on Babar Road, New Delhi for a short period. They then shifted to 48 Hanuman Road, New Delhi, the house of Dr. J.K. Sen, a leading doctor of Delhi, and an ardent follower of MA some time in 1945/46 and continued there till the present Ashram came up.

Ashram’s Timings

All temples are open from 6.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon.

Temples closed from 12.00 noon to 4.00 p.m.

Temples reopen at 4.00 p.m. and closes at 9.00 p.m.

Office of the Ashram works from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Regular Monthly Programmes

Hanuman Chalisa on the last Saturday of every month

Uday-Asta Kirtan on the last Sunday of every month

Matri Satsanga on 2nd Saturday of every month

History of the Delhi Ashram The KALKAJI TEMPLE (near Okhla Industrial Estate) finds mention in history books detailing the flight of Chhrapati Shivaji from the prison of Aurangzeb, the Moghul Emperor, and dates its antiquity from the days of the Pandavas .
